Gun Control

The time is long overdue to restrict the proliferation of guns in the United States. I propose for your consideration legislation banning all automatic and semi-automatic guns of all types and all handguns. Further the manufacture, distribution, sale, possession or use of these guns and all ammunition is outlawed. A grace period to relinquish guns of six months will be in place before serious criminal sanctions take effect. Punishment should include significant financial sanctions to defray the expense of enforcement and incarceration ranging from house arrest to serious prison time. Congress should offer to compensate gun owners who turn in their firearms of a nominal amount of $100-$200 to offset their loss.
