The first step we must take to give meaning to the Sandy Hook tragedy, as a nation, is to create a government agency that gathers and shares the total numbers of gun related deaths every day of the year, informing us all of the truth. We needed to know, for example, that in 2005 were were headed to over 30,000 people killed with guns, half suicides.
Why is this important?
There is not and there should be a national database tracking system on the numbers of violent gun deaths and suicides in this country. Without knowing the actual numbers of gun deaths how can we assess the real situation? We need a permanent agency providing national totals for every previous day.
