Gun Moratorium Now
President Obama, please declare an immediate and indefinite moratorium on all guns sales nationwide pending comprehensive gun control legislation in the Congress. The buying frenzy threatens everyone. The gun buying public has plenty of guns to last them for good long while, and such a moratorium will light a fire under the Congress to take effective action.
Why is this important?
Gun sales are soaring after the horrific massacre of innocents in Newtown, CT on Dec. 10th 2012. Gun enthusiasts are afraid of restrictions and are therefore rushing to build their hordes of the worst kinds of assault weapons and high capacity magazines. It is a deadly frenzy that only worsens the climate that has produced 16 mass shootings in the US this year. There are already enough guns in circulation to match every human in the country—almost 300 million. That is more than enough to hold us until Congress can take effective action to reign in what is currently out of control.
