Any American who owns a personal firearm who witnesses a crime and who fails to act to prevent or stop that crime ought to be held legally accountable for their failure to act. In states where the right to carry firearms in public is the law, gun owners, no matter whether they are carrying a firearm or not, should be charged with a felony if they do not act.
Why is this important?
Many Americans claim that their Constitution gives them the right to own and openly carry firearms. Most states have struck down limitations on gun ownership, but not one single state has provided for a balanced level of legal responsibility that gun ownership entails.
