Background checks on all purchasers of guns are a must. Ban assault weapons and magazines with more that 10 rounds. Make it manaditory for gun purchasers to buy liability insurance (car owners have to, and cars are not made to kill people).
Why is this important?
I think that more than 11,000 people have been killed by guns since December 14, 2012. We really need to address this issue - the 2nd Ammendment refers to a "controlled militia". A soldier needs a high capacity weapon - the average person does not. Guns are for killing or maiming the object of the weapon. They have no other purpose. It seems reasonable to advocate for controls.
