Guns Off Streets
We would like Mayor Strand to enact a gun buy back program for the city of St. Peter. Gun owners would be able to sell their weapons, no questions asked, and they would have the opportunity to donate the funds received to support counselling programs in the St Peter Public School System. Gun deaths are a problem of stability and access rather than criminality and desire to insight violence. Mayor Strand, you can help support mental health in our community and keep weapons of mass destruction off our streets.
Why is this important?
At the community level an assault rifle is a weapon of mass destruction. I would like to see fewer guns on our streets, and fewer opportunities for those with mental health needs to slip through the cracks.
