Guns, religion and money: get them out of politics

Our country is regressing to such an extent that we will, much sooner than later, become as bad as the third world countries we so often denigrate. Not only do we need sensible gun regulations but we must address the need for the kind of mental health care that we had before the right wing released dangerously affected individuals into our society, relying on those same mentally ill persons to take their meds.
We need to rid ourselves of the lobbyists and their seductive influence on our legislative bodies. We need to insist that our Congressmen and Congresswomen attend to the needs of their constituents instead of spending their time pocketing fistfuls of money for their own gain or constantly running for office from the time they are elected to office. We must take the vast amounts of money out of the political arena and the television, radio and telephone companies.
So, laws applying to guns is the tip of the proverbial iceberg or trigger. The job of cleaning up our political world will mean we probably will have to kick out the culprits that have plunged us into this darkness, the extremists, aka the right wing and electing a rational group that actually represents the needs of the sane people who disagree with liberalism. They must offer moderate and sane options to liberal ideas and rather than resorting to the base instincts of citizens for war, mayhem, guns and extreme ideas like sanctioning racism , and injecting religious ideas into our political discussion.
This may sound like an impossible task but it must be done. The American people owe it to ourselves to resurrect democracy.
