Have Warner Bros. remove the wires for The Exorcist 4K release

The Exorcist is undoubtedly one of the greatest films ever made and easily the most influential horror film ever made. The new 4K transfer is currently streaming on MAX and while the film looks the best it ever has, the ultra high-def detail unfortunately makes the wires used during Regans levitation scene very easy to see. It’s obvious that the filmmakers made their best effort to maintain the illusion of the effects throughout the film and could not foresee the advent of such a high quality home video version that would make the wires effect so visible. In order to maintain the integrity of this classic film, I am asking Warner Bros. to digitally remove the wires for their upcoming 4K release and for their streaming version on MAX. The practical effects that were done in The Exorcist were revolutionary at the time and still hold up beautifully to this day and seeing the wires so clearly during Regan’s levitation scene is a huge detriment to the film and a disservice to the incredible time and effort the films effects artists and director William Friedkin took to make the events in The Exorcist seem as real as possible.
Why is this important?
It’s important to maintain the best possible version of this classic film for both past and future audiences. The power of The Exorcist lies in it’s ability to make you believe in the supernatural. The power of Regan’s iconic levitation scene is horribly diminshed by the visibility of the wires being used.
How it will be delivered
