HB5711 Will hurt Michigan
Michigan's legislature gained negative nationwide attention after representative opponents, all women, were censured from speaking out against the hastily constructed bill known as HB 5711. If passed, HB 5711 would impose some of the most draconian restrictions in the country on women's reproductive health care while exacting huge regulatory measures against Michigan small businesses. Just when Michigan appears to be entering a more favorable economic climate, Michigan Republicans, while promising less government and more business, stand in direct contradiction.
Why is this important?
The Michigan Senate will vote on HB5711 next month threatening to impose the most draconian restrictions on Michigan reproductive health services anywhere in the country and on area small businesses. Michigan Republicans have promised a hands off approach to governance and a pro-business attitude, but HB5711 threatens both, at a time when Michigan is just starting to turn the corner economically.
