Health Rates Up? Explanations, NOW!

Health Insurance Providers should be required to demonstrate true effort in holding costs down through specific actions and if necessary, litigation, with hospitals and medical groups before raising rates arbitrarily. Their actions should be subject to public review and disclosure.

Why is this important?

Every few months Health Insurance Companies raise rates because of "increases" in medical costs. They should demonstrate how they have held costs down, before arbitrary increases. Our hospital charges $2,500 for a CAT scan, while in other Western countries it is in the hundreds of dollars. Should't Insurance companies be required to be market makers, and establish fair rates, and not just takers? Insurance Companies should represent the best interests of their clients and not the bloated profits of the medical complex.
