Nothing is more important to a democracy than protecting the people's right to vote on their representatives and having each and every vote count. With the current system, most of our votes don't count, and presidential candidates focus all of their energy in swing states. This is not only NOT what our founders had in mind, but is a carry-over from the slave days. It needs to be changed, so that the person with the most votes wins all the time.
Why is this important?
I am starting this petition because I want my vote to count as much as anyone else's vote, but not more than any one individual. In addition, I am tired of worrying about partisan laws being enacted to suppress the vote and disenfranchise people and the very real possibility of voter rigging.
