Requesting that Bassem Tamimi, Nabi Saleh, be released immediately from Administrative Detention where he is being held without charge, jury or evidence and faces another 6 months in detention. This can be renewed ad infinitum. His exact location, and condition is unknown. He was arrested by the Israel Defence Forces October 29th, 2023 while traveling by car to a safer area. He "disappreared' but recent information provided by Amnesty International indicates he is alive, his condition unknown and is being moved from prison to prison. Given the reports of hundreds of prisoners being held in inhuman conditions including hands and feet being amputated due to constricting handcuffs, being kept in diapers and many tortured routinely many not surviving. He, and other non-violent, non-criminal Palestinians should be released immediately and unconditionally.
Why is this important?
Bassem Tamimi represents the 1,000s of innocent Palestinians caught in the Israel Defence Force web. No one on the outside knows his physical or mental condition while in prison. As time goes by the chances of grievous harm being done to him increases, he may even be tortured or starved to death without intervention.. He is a recognized defender of human rights by both the EU and Amnesty International and he has harmed no one. He is a husband, father and a decent educated man. whose family moved to Nabi Saleh 400 years ago. Now 80% of his land has been taken by illegal settlements. He deserves to be released, and we can do it!.
