Help fund a better future, a future in the stars
We humans are choking the earth, making it unlivable for many species. The amount of natural resources we use is slowly stripping the planet clean. Our race cannot keep to one planet much longer, we need to expand. In the near future, wars won’t be fought over weapons policies and disputes between leaders; they will be fought over access to clean drinking water and power accessibility.
The future of our species depends on whether our race can expand to other planets. The surrounding planets throughout our solar system have huge amounts of untapped natural resources that we desperately need. If we can branch out, even just with an efficient way to mine for raw materials, we could still gain an exponential amount of resources. These kinds of ideas aren’t fantasy anymore; we know it’s possible; we just have to get there. NASA is the one agency that can pull this off. They can get us to the stars; they just need the government funding to do so.
Our military recently got $644 trillion as a yearly budget, but the budget NASA is asking for contains $17.7 billion. Looking at these statistics, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask the government to take a second $17.7 billion out of the military and give it to NASA to double their yearly funding. Taking this (less than .05%) funding out of the military, might also lead to a quicker end to the war, because keeping the war going requires a huge amount of funding.

Why is this important?
My petition is about getting more funding for NASA. For a long time our countries space program was a force to be reckoned with, we were the first to land on the moon. But now, our agencies have started lacking because of a lack of funding. This can be changed with additional government funding, and we can make it happen.
