Help Keep 240 Children in School in Brooklyn
St. Jerome Church on the corner of Newkirk and Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn, NY is evicting the Friends of Crown Heights School which is located at the church on June 30, 2016. That means over 240 children ages 2 to 5 will be denied the education they have every right to receive.
This also means that the parents of these children will be at risk of losing their jobs due to not having childcare for their children. This is the beginning of the 'School to Prison Pipeline System' and the systematic bias and Injustice that is going on in African American and Caribbean communities in New York City.
This is a true hypocritical act by the church, and is not in the doctrines and teachings of God.
It is time that we as a community stop sitting by and allowing our children to become victims to corruption, injustice and greed. It is time that we show our children that we will fight for their education and for their futures.
Our Demands:
·Halt All Evictions of Friends of Crown Heights
·Halt All dealings with the charter school for the current building that Friends of Crown Heights occupies.
·Renew the lease for another 4 years with no limitations on a renewal after the 4 years, and accept an Offer of $400,000 a year.
·Give a public apology to the children of Friends of Crown Heights.
·Cater more to the community that gives their time, offerings and tithes to St. Jerome Church with outreach and assistance.
