In Umatilla, OR, we have experienced a tragedy that has shaken our community to its core. My uncle Abrahan Figueroa and my cousin, his son Pedro Damian Figueroa, (17)yrs lost their lives in a terrible car accident caused by drugged drunk driving. The driver responsible was Anthony Alan Daulton, from Las Vegas, who has repeatedly been caught driving under the influence.
Drunk driving is not just illegal; it's deadly. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 10,142 people died in drunk-driving crashes in 2019 alone - one every 52 minutes. Despite these alarming statistics and the strict laws against it, some individuals like Daulton continue to put innocent lives at risk.
Why is this important?
We are calling on local law enforcement and judicial authorities to take immediate action against drugged drunk drivers like Anthony Alan Daulton. We need stricter enforcement of DUI laws and harsher penalties for repeat offenders to ensure that no other family experiences the pain of losing two loved ones due to such reckless, careless, illegal behavior.
