HOLD ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE

Politics is so divisive these days, and corruption is out of control. Let's remind politicians that they work FOR THE PEOPLE, and that we are their employers. They too easily forget that we elected them to protect us. Therefore, in order to decrease the occurrences of corruption, both national and state representatives needs to pass laws that apply to ALL elected positions in the country, including Congress, that increase legal penalties for breaking a law while holding an office. Such penalties (fines, imprisonment, etc.) within existing laws should be scaled by a factor equivalent to the amount of years the person held office at the time of being found guilty of breaking a law. Ignorance of the laws, or attempts to undermine its ability to function, by an elected official is no excuse to further harm our citizens. Additionally, we as voters want any convicted felons to be permanently banned from holding political office or lobbying elected officials. Return our government to the people, remove corporations or similar entities from government, and return your focus to your citizens, or you can just have a great life in jail if you wish it. Please sign this petition if you agree that existing safe guards are ineffective, you are frustrated with the divisive direction our dysfunctional government is going, or you at least want elected officials to accomplish something that matters for a change.
