Hold Justice Alito Accountable!
Justice Samuel Alito had a symbol of insurrectionist solidarity flying in front of his house while hearing cases on Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. He cannot be allowed to rule on Trump's immunity claim or other cases related to the 2020 election and January 6 insurrection—and he must be held accountable for this breach of ethics.
He must recuse himself immediately or be removed by Chief Justice John Roberts, and the Senate Judiciary Committee must swiftly investigate and take actions on conflicts of interest.

Why is this important?
The New York Times has reported that the home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito displayed a symbol that shows solidarity with the effort to overturn the 2020 election ... while he was hearing a case about that effort! [https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/us/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html] The upside-down flag—a "stop the steal" image—is just the latest evidence that the partisan Republicans on the court cannot impartially hear or rule on cases related to the efforts to overturn the election, the January 6 insurrection, or Trump's claims of immunity.
The revelation of this sign of partisanship and partiality on Alito's home is the latest in the trend of right-wing Supreme Court justices embracing conflicts of interest with relation to Trump's election cases. Justice Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginni Thomas, a leading conservative activist, took action to try to overturn the election results—yet Thomas did not disclose this while ruling on cases related to the insurrection and has continued to hear cases such as Trump's appeal for immunity.
Because Chief Justice John Roberts has allowed these conflicts to go unchecked, the Supreme Court is at its lowest public approval ever—with the public losing trust in the institution's integrity and seeing it as the tool of a partisan right-wing agenda that it is. That's why it shouldn't surprise anyone that these partisan actors are overturning precedent and taking groundless cases to pursue an agenda that has torn up abortion rights, undone environmental regulations, and enriched and empowered corporations and billionaires.
The only way to begin to restore any trust in this court—and to ensure any semblance of a fair hearing on Trump's baseless immunity claims—is for Alito and Thomas to recuse, or be removed by John Roberts.
And the Senate Judiciary Committee—which has the duty to be a check on the Supreme Court—must investigate these conflicts immediately and take action to hold conflicted, corrupt justices accountable, including impeachment if necessary.
