Tell Congress: Hold Pesticide Companies Accountable!
The Supreme Court has ruled against public health and in favor of the multi-billion dollar pesticide company Monsanto, claiming the company does not need to use a warning label about a potential cancer risk associated with one of its signature products, a weedkiller called Roundup.
A breakthrough study published last year shockingly showed a link between glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup, and cancer. But the Supreme Court is siding with Big Chemical, not the health of the American people.
There's a bipartisan bill introduced to Congress that would strip companies like Monsanto of their unfair liability protection, finally giving Americans the right to hold pesticide manufacturers accountable under state law when they fail to warn consumers about risks like links to cancer.
Our government works for us—not Big Chemical. Add your name NOW demanding Congress pass legislation to hold pesticide companies accountable!
Why is this important?
Trump is a HUGE backer of Monsanto. He even published an executive order earlier this year aiming to boost glyphosate production. Bayer, Monsanto's parent company, donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration.
And the Supreme Court's decision is based on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) declaration that glyphosate is safe—despite the evidence of its safety coming from a paper ghostwritten by Monsanto.
SCOTUS denied justice to the 200,000 plaintiffs whose lives have been devastated by RoundUp. The highest court may think Bayer—or any other corporation—does not have to answer for the harm they caused, but we don't. And Congress can right this wrong.
This is just another example of corporate greed coming at the expense of our public health. Tell Congress: Pass legislation to give Americans the right to fight back against pesticide companies!
