We the undersigned, oppose any Massachusetts Legislative Act Relative to Shellfish & Aquaculture Licensing that would create a commodity from the licenses and privatize public lands and resources.
Why is this important?
The Shellfishermen of Wellfleet and throughout Massachusetts have been organizing since January 2019 in opposition to legislation that would lead to privatization and consolidation of Wellfleet's Historical Shellfish Grants. The commoditization of Wellfleet's flats would have detrimental impacts on our small farmers and wild fishermen who consist of small family farms and businesses. We stand with shellfishermen and private citizens throughout Massachusetts who oppose any such legislation that leads to the privatization of public resources and the loss of Home Rule.
