Honor seating reservations for families traveling with young children
I want American Airlines to clean up their act and either remove the seating reservation option from their flight reservations page or explain why they are trying to separate families and no longer guarantee (but rather try to separate) larger groups traveling with kids.
Why is this important?
A month ago I traveled with my family to visit my parents over the holidays. As we had done in the past, we traveled with American Airlines. We had a horrible experience with some of AA's employees, but during the experience found out that even though we work hard trying to find reservations where we can sit together with our young children (we have 3 year old twins), American Airlines does not guarantee seating reservation and will most likely separate parties (regardless of the age of the children). If that is the case, I do not understand why they continue with the farse of making you chose flights where you can find seats together. I wrote a letter to a number of officials in American and am still waiting for an explanation of what is driving this. In the meantime, I do believe that as a mother, I should have the right to get what I pay for and be allowed to sit with my children during a flight (regardless of the class I am traveling in)
