It is the responsibility of our elected officials to rescind and repeal HB1261 that eliminates general assistance for citizens in need. The enactment of this type of bill would only create more criminal activities from people in desperation to survive. Instead, our elected officials should consider the alternative plans developed by the Harmonious Volunteer Center which have been successful in creating job training and employment for this population of people thus removing them from the welfare roles in positive and productive ways.
