ICE: Free Our Pastor!
I am writing to call for the immediate release of Pastor Jose Armando Siliezar-Sevilla (A# 070-970-605) from immigration detention. He is a religious leader loved and respected in the community. His faith is evident through his work, deeply seeded in congregations throughout North Carolina.
Furthermore, Pastor Jose Armando has been a victim of medical neglect during his time in detention: his third toe of the right foot was amputated. Medical records show he could lose his leg if he continues to be treated improperly. Pastor Jose Armando's deportation should be stopped immediately, and he should be released to the care of his family in Benson, North Carolina.
Fifteen-year-old Josmar, a US citizen, watched as his father, Pastor Jose Armando, was ripped from his home on June 3rd, 2014. ICE said a previous deportation led to his apprehension. But the case against him is questionable as he is a Honduran National but was deported to Mexico. More importantly, the pastor was not provided a certified translator to ensure he understood the case against him. Pastor Jose Armando's due process rights were violated then. Now, he is a victim of gross medical negligence that caused his third toe of the right foot to be amputated while in custody. Immigration prison is no place for Pastor Jose Armando to fully recover from an amputated toe nor to stabilize his diabetic condition. He should be released without further delay.
According to DHS guidelines, Pastor Jose Armando is not a priority for deportation and should be granted deferred action immediately. I urge you to take action and release Pastor Jose Armando Siliezar-Sevilla (A# 070-970-605) to the care of his family immediately.
