Immigration Reform - Backlogs

Eliminating backlogs should be one of the top priorites within Immigration reform. Reuniting familes should come first. Those who have waited patiently to enter the US legally should not be put on the back burner, while trying to give undocumented immigrants who came here by illegal means an easier, quicker path to citizenship.

Why is this important?

My family has waited 13 years and counting to come into the country, legally. And with retrogression, the backlog might only get longer. Millions of people, especially those of Mexico and the Phillipines, live in the hope of being reunited with family, and sometimes die in despair without their dream coming true. In his inaugural address, President Obama made it known that Immigration reform will be a priority for 2013, for the illegal immigrants. Powell Job's launched a website for undocumented immigrants, the Dream Act. But how about for those who have been seperated for months, years, or even decades due to immigration backlogs? The ones who have been patiently waiting to come into the country legally. Shouldn't waiting to get into the country legally be more rewarded? We need Immigration reform to unite families who have been forced to live apart for 5,10 or even 20 years due to backlogs! We need the government to focus on these individuals as well.
