Impeachment proceedings for signers of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge"
We, the undersigned, petition you, as chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, to bring forth such impeachment resolutions as you find appropriate for the U.S. Representatives and Senators listed as signers of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge", which is sponsored by the private, non-governmental organization "Americans for Tax Reform". We believe that members of congress have an obligation to their constituents - who elected them - and to the government they serve. If they cannot compromise because they've signed a pledge to an outside party who has not been elected and is not a part of the government, then the signers of this pledge are operating with a serious and actionable conflict of interest. The signers of the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" have have signed a sworn oath that contradicts their oath of office, indicating that they, in fact, do have mental reservations, and they do have purpose of evasion. Therefore, we, the undersigned, believe that, as put forth in The U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section 4, these individuals have committed High crimes and Misdemeanors against the United States (i.e. perjury of oath), are unfit to serve, and should be removed from office. Should the impeachment process extend into the 113th Congress, we request that you pass this to your successor, Representative Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA).
Why is this important?
This petition is to urge Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX), outgoing Chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, or his successor, incoming Chair Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), to initiate impeachment proceedings against every member of congress who has signed the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" sponsored by "Americans for Tax Reform". The signers of this pledge have signed a sworn oath that contradicts their oath of office. Therefore, in fact, they do have mental reservations, and they do have purpose of evasion, a High Crime and Misdemeanor (perjury of oath).
