Implement a "No Shame Dress Code" at STHS
Request the creation of an Advisory Counsel and the implementation of a "no shame" dress code which embodies the following principles:
• Allows students to be able to wear clothes without fear of unnecessary discipline or body shaming
• That all students are encouraged to dress in a manner that is comfortable and conducive to an active school day.
• Serves to support ALL students to develop a body-positive self-image.
Why is this important?
The current dress code perpetuates sexism, mental illness and an environment that does not support the learning of all students. The dress code sexualizes and objectifies the female student body and is demeaning to the male student body. Without change, this will continue to negatively impact our current and future student body.
