Incentivise Checking of Medicare Bills
Medicare bills are difficult to interpret and do not always match patient recollections. Checking billing and reporting errors is currently the job of good citizens, but the system would be more effective if patients were given a financial incentive to check for and report errors. The incentive could be some reasonable percentage of the savings found. With every patient being a potential cost watchdog, Medicare costs would be reduced.
Why is this important?
To reduce Medicare costs, find and correct errors in individual Medicare bills by incentivising patients to act as financial watchdogs.
