We the undersign citizens of the United States Virgin Islands who are duly owed income tax refunds are respectfully requesting both the Commissioner of Finance and the Governor of the Virgin Islands adhere to existing law and provide us with a general ledger that establishes proof pursuant to VI Law that stipulates 10% continue to be set-aside from all income taxes collected. We further request that income taxes be paid on time and recognize this remains a fundamental right.
Why is this important?
Income Tax Refunds is a fundamental right and citizens who are entitled to refunds continue to be denied of this right to a refund and on time. The law provides for a 10% set-a-side from all income taxes collected annually. The Government has failed to adhere to the law and as such continue to violate the rights of those owed refunds. Citizens are being affected and this clearly affects the U.S. Virgin Islands economic cycle.
