The speed limit on Elbert County Rd 101/Ridge road is currently posted at 35 and 25 mph. Most vehicles travel safely between 45-50 mph and have been doing so for decades logging thousands of miles. The same road in Arapahoe County is posted at 55 mph.
Why is this important?
The low speed limit on Ridge Rd. makes the behavior of the majority unlawful and often causes antagonism towards enforcement. While enforcement of this unrealistic speed limit does produce easy revenue for the sheriff's office, it creates a bad image of the community.
