INDIANA: STOP DEBT COLLECTORS FROM GETTING WARRANTS ISSUED ON DEPTORS
Please sign this petition in support of restricting Debt Collectors from getting Body Attachments/Warrants issued for the arrest of Debtors!
Indiana currently Imprisons debtors, who are then typically required to submit financial documentation to the courts, to facilitate seizure of assets or wage garnishment. The Debt Collectors mostly target people who they know can't afford to pay the debt. If you fail to appear or refuse to pay them, they have the power to obtain a Writ Of Body Attachment which means you will be treated like a criminal and thrown in a jail cell. This practice is absolutely wrong and should be banned immediately! Debt collectors SHOULD NOT have that much power when it comes down to collecting on a debt! NOBODY deserves to be treated like a criminal and locked up just because they owe a petty bill and can't afford to pay it! I URGE EVERYONE TO SUPPORT THIS ISSUE!

Why is this important?
This petition is about protecting the poor and innocent from Debt Collectors who use the court system to jail people who can't afford to pay the dept. I have never been arrested in my life. A local Debt Collection company has been trying to sue me since 2011 and they just recently asked the court to issue a body attachment on me. I am an emotional wreck because a cop can come to my door anytime to haul me off to jail and I have done NOTHING illegal! I am very afraid of going to jail.
