Insist on Accuracy and Full Disclosure in White House Record of Trump-Putin Summit in Helsinki

It has been reported in the press that the official White House transcript and video of the press conference following the Trump-Putin Summit which took place on 7/16/18 have been edited by the White House to OMIT key remarks by Vladimir Putin. Specifically, Putin had responded to a question he was asked by reporter Jeff Mason, “President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?” Putin responded: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.–Russia relationship back to normal.” See: https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2018/07/trump-putin-press-conference-transcript/565385/

This is a petition to insist on an accurate official record of the Summit, including by restoring this deleted content from all official White House transcripts and video.

Additionally, this petition calls for and supports a congressional hearing to question the U.S. translator, Marina Gross, who was the only other American in the room with President Trump and Vladimir Putin during their two-hour private session, and to subpoena any notes from the session. Russia is already calling on the U.S. to perform on promises allegedly made by President Trump to Putin during this private session, and it is critical that our country know the full scope and detail of what was discussed and potentially agreed to by our nation.

Why is this important?

It is critical that we have a complete and accurate record of what occurred concerning the events of the 7/16/18 Helsinki Summit, of such monumental significance for our country. It is unacceptable that the official record be "edited" to alter its actual substance. Truth matters.
