International Control of Fukushima
Dear Mr. Obama and Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon:
TEPCO will begin removal of fuel rods from Unit # 4 at the Fukushima Reactor in November. Neither TEPCO nor the government of Japan has the scientific knowledge, experience, or wherewithal to do this safely. International control of Fukushima is now critical, since if any of the 1300 fuel rods are exposed to air, it could cause a radiation release equal to 15,000 Hiroshimas.

Why is this important?
There is little media coverage of the catastrophic risks involved in storing and especially moving fuel rods from Fukushima Unit #4. TEPCO and the Japanese Government have not been open about the damage. The risk of an uncontrolled fission reaction releasing radiation equal to 85 times that of Chernobyl is deemed highly probable by experts. I am starting this due to my concern for the future of life on earth. This danger is more immediate, and more deadly, even than climate change.
