Don't let House Republicans "invalidate" the Endangered Species Act
A powerful lawmaker, Rep. Rob Bishop from Utah, has said he "would love to invalidate" the Endangered Species Act. Let's not let this happen. Write and/or call your U.S. Representatives and tell them we don't want this to happen.
Why is this important?
Democrats and conservationists say the bills introduced by Rep. Rob Bishop would whittle away the Endangered Species Act's ability to save wildlife from extinction.
Unlike previous GOP attempts to weaken the Endangered Species Act, Bishop is poised to realize his ambition because of Republicans' control of both chambers of Congress and the White House. A Senate committee that previously held hearings on modernizing the Act is preparing companion legislation, and a president who favors oil-and-gas development on federal land is more likely to sign it into law.
