Investigate Voter Supression in the 2012 Election
In an effort to protect the basis of democracy of this country, the White House and Congress must thoroughly investigate the influence of lobbying organizations and the coordinated changes to voting laws by numerous State governments in an apparent attempt to disenfranchise specific portions of the electorate for the purpose of influencing the outcome of the 2012 Presidential election.
Why is this important?
Lobbying groups and political strategists have pushed changes to voting laws in numerous state legislatures which sought to make it more difficult for certain portions of the electorate to cast their ballots. Disenfranchisement tactics included voter ID laws, shortened early voting hours and days, voter purges and illegal voter registration practices.
The apparently coordinated tactics, under the guise of fighting voter fraud, were designed to influence the outcome of the 2012 election by suppressing the turnout of specific voting groups.
We call on our leaders in the White House and Congress to fully investigate this threat to democracy, prosecute those found to have acted illegally and make legislative changes to prevent this type of abuse from happening in the future.
