Iowa Prisons and Jails Allow Hijab for Muslim Women

Muslim women have been commanded by God (Allah) to dress in loose clothes and headcoverings that conceal the body. When a Muslim woman is booked into an Iowa jail or prison she is prevented from following this relogious obligation, thus causing her to expose herself to both men and women who are both staff and fellow prisoners. Modesty is vital, and a Muslim woman must fully cover herself for performing the five daily prayers even if she is totally alone. All detention facilities must permit the Muslim female prisoner to practice her religion. Muslims must also be permitted to know the time of day for prayer timing, know the direction of Mecca, and fast during Ramadan. Mugshots of Muslim women must not be blasted all over the web for all the world to gawk at.

Why is this important?

Muslim women are stripped of their modesty and forced to remove the hijab (headcovering) and modest clothes, forced to wear tight-fitting uniforms that reveal the body shape and bare the arms, neck, ankles, and hair, and have their mugshot taken and blasted all over the web.
