Job Hunters Need HR 589 Passed Now!

HR 589 was forwarded to the Ways And Means Committee, where it seems to have disappeared. It has yet to be discussed or brought to the floor for a vote. Tweets, emails, faxes and phone calls from the jobless have been ignored. A letter signed by job hunters all over the country has been sent to them, with little response: http://deck.ly/~6u2mL

We know HR 589 doesn't solve the lack of jobs. Jobs still need to be created because there simply are not enough viable jobs for the number of people looking for work. Job hunters need to be able to survive until these jobs are created and made available to them. They need to survive TO job hunt. Many have dependents.

As it stands, more and more people are NOT surviving this economic crisis. Deaths have already occurred. Without the relief of HR589, more will. If banks, corporations and oil companies can be bailed out, why is there so much reluctance to help American citizens?

Sign the petition to pass HR589. Read the letter signed by so many jobless. You can have your name added to it, too:

Why is this important?

HR 589 was introduced by Representative Barbara Lee in February, 2011. HR 589 would add a 14 week extension to unemployment benefits ( a new Tier). 99ers, many of whom are older workers, were left out of the last extension, leaving them to fend for themselves for over a year. With no jobs and no benefits, not everyone survives.
