We demand that Rep. Joe Heck withdraw his bill to name a mountain in Nevada after Ronald Reagan.
Why is this important?
Ronald Reagan was a disaster for Nevada. In 1980, 19,000 were without work. Just three years later, 59,000 were unemployed. In the same period, median household income dropped by $1,200 nationally.
This bill does nothing to bring good jobs back or repair the aging infrastructure. It's time to stop pandering to special interests and start working on solutions.
Working people in Nevada are still dealing with the consequences of deregulation and trickle down economics. Instead of pandering, he should be working to undo the damage.
Only 14 presidents have had mountains named after them. This is about carving a political ideology into the landscape. It's just not appropriate.
Joe Heck needs to stop taking his orders from Grover Norquist and start listening to his constituents.
