Why is this important?
One of the largest encampments of children who have been separated from their families, and are now held indefinitely in detention, is close to my home. I had the opportunity to remind them, across a field, and in their own language that: We Have Not Forgotten Them; That We in America Believe and Work for Human Rights; that they are not alone, because all our hearts are breaking with them. All Americans must stand for our democratic values and governance. Beyond politics this is a matter of Humanity -- there are no taking sides in front of injustice. We must stand together!
