Junk Mail is Killing the Post Office

Junk mailers bombard ordinary Americans with an endless tsunami of unwanted junk mail, using their political connections in Congress to ensure that this dreck is delivered at special bargain-basement prices, subsidized by the very postal customers who are the targets of this unwanted onslaught. Junk mail isn't merely a waste of trees -- it is destroying our post office, too! Post office losses on junk mail have propelled the agency into a financial crisis, and the only solutions discussed by Congress to date involve the elimination of key services to you and me, such as Saturday delivery, deliveries to individual homes, etc. It is time for Congress to finally discuss the elephant in the room! Make corporations pay for their mail at the same rates paid by ordinary American citizens!

Why is this important?

Junk mailers are driving our post office into bankruptcy. But no one in congress will discuss the elephant in the room: corporations which bombard postal customers with unwanted junk mail at subsidized rates.
