In addition to the fact that the Plastic Cups and lids are more than twice as expensive as the foam cups they do not do the job of keeping our water and ice from quickly melting in the hot Florida sun. We want the club to revert to the Foam Cups. As members we will make every effort to work with the staff to see that the Foam Cups are properly recycled.
Why is this important?
The fact that Toll Brothers made the change to the plastic cups unilaterally has been an affront to the members of Jupiter Country Club. There are several reasons why the club should switch back to the Foam water cups.
1. The plastic cups are more than twice as expensive as the foam cups
2. The plastic cups do not provide any insulation for the water and ice. Therefore within 15 minutes all the ice in the cup has melted.
3. The plastic cups are awkward to use with the ice and water dispensers. This means it takes longer to fill the cups and ice and water are spilled around the machine. Members are clearly frustrated by this.
4. The rigid plastic tops to the cups collapse the straws making them unusable.
5. Foam cups can be recycled just as egg cartons and meat trays are at our local supermarket.
We demand that the club switch back to the foam water cups as soon as possible!
