Given the tremendous damage Wall Street activity has done to both the nation's economy and individual lives, and the lack of penalties for their errant behavior, this proposal seeks to establish a tax of one cent imposed on all stock market transactions (i.e., a federal sales tax).
Recognizing the opposition this would bring from Wall Street, we have entitled it "Just A Penny" to illustrate how reluctant the Street is to accepting any responsibility for righting the economy they so masterfully helped to sink.
Why is this important?
