Justice for Dennis Beal
This is in reference to Mr. Dennis Beal, a young man who was handed down years of prison time, without the possibility of parole. We feel that the time this young man received is much too Harsh for a drug charge. Even if he's been convicted of a crime before this one...... So we are signing a petition to have his charges reduced and/or him released from prison, since we have reasons, in Madison County and Rankin County Mississippi and surrounding counties that the Sheriff, District Attorneys, and Judges have just hand down prison time just because of the color of the skin. Seemingly, not because of the crime. The time/years for these crimes don't fit the crime. We have statements, letters, and phone conversations pertaining to these charges, issued out by the courts in Mississippi. Some of them we know Civil Rights have been violated.
Yet. we are calling for a new trial for Mr. Dennis Beal, who was given 77 years plus 355 days for a cocaine charge etc. For the charges, this sounds like life in prison without parole. This man didn't murder or kill anyone! Does a man, who commit murder get lesser prison time in the State of Mississippi? We need/want this time that don't fit the crime to stop. The laws and the time issued out by judges in the State is Mississippi needs to be revised at some point or another. Yet, we are making Mr. Dennis Beal along with many more inmates in MDOC, our priority by bringing national publicity to help these young men. We are seeking JUSTICE for all ethnicity. Specifically, Mr. Dennis Beal and a few others we care not to disclose at this time. The prison time this young man received without the possibility of parole is ridiculous and so HARSH! Another inmate, Mr. Marcus Vaughan, who got a 30 year mandatory sentence for a Manslaughter charge. Time and/or charges that have not been heard of until NOW! A manslaughter charge only carries 4 years. How is a manslaughter charge, which only carry 4 years, go up to a 30 years mandatory sentence? We’d like to know. These are the type of legal issues we have been getting from inmates in MDOC. However, the time Mr. Dennis Beal received have left many political figures here and there puzzled and confused as to how come and why? So we are taking action by having this petition signed in states across the country, not just in Mississippi.
Awareness is what we are bringing to the public's attention on how these young men are being beaten, awakened up out of their sleep in horror/terror from police officers with masks, bullying them in the county jails in Madison and Rankin Counties. We all know that bullying is now against the law. Some are raped, walked out and brought back in wheel chairs with broken legs etc. Some are even attacked by gang members while the CO watches. While others are made to take medication prescribed by the state, that is harmful, and in some instances causes death to the inmate.
nmates who acquire cell phone are acquiring them mostly through the CO's. Correctional Officers the State of Mississippi hires. Cell phones are not only smuggled in through visitation from family members and/or friends. We are told, Correctional Officers hired by the Mississippi Department of Corrections and/or by the State of Mississippi charges hundreds of dollars, sometimes in the amount of $300 to $400 to purchase cell phones for inmates, and bring the cell phones into the institution.
Indeed, this is a mess in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. We have heard and read many horrifying stories and they keep coming.
Thank you for your time.

Why is this important?
Canton man gets 60 years for selling cocaine.

MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Canton man will spend 60 years in jail, without the possibility of parole, after being found guilty of selling cocaine.
Dennis Beal, 37, was found guilty following a two-day trial. Due to previous convictions for robbery, possession of a controlled substance and bribery, Beal was charged as a non-violent habitual offender and a subsequent drug offender, according to District Attorney Michael Guest.
On top of the jail sentence Beal will also have to pay a $2 million fine upon his release.
In March 2009, Beal met with a confidential law enforcement informant and sold the informant $30 worth of crack cocaine, according to the district attorney.
Beal was arrested and while out on bond he reportedly contacted a Madison County Sheriff’s Department deputy and offered the deputy “money to make the charges go away.”
The sheriff’s department began to record calls between Beal and the deputy and in February 2010, Beal gave the deputy $5,000 in cash. Law enforcement moved in and arrested Beal on bribery charges.
“Beal’s lack of respect for the criminal justice system can be seen in his attempt to bribe a Deputy Sherriff in an attempt to keep him from going back to prison. Dennis Beal is an example of a career criminal that will now spend the remainder of his life behind bars because he refuses to obey the law,” Guest said.
