Justice for Jessie

PETITION STATEMENT
Charge the men who assaulted the nearly 60 year old grandmother, Jessie Haynes, with aggravated assault and assaulting a public servant; Stop the bullying, assault and harassment of/on public employees especially targeted just because they support voting rights for all U.S. citizens.

PETITION BACKGROUND
Just shortly after a court ruled against a petition concerning the school board election in Beaumont, TX, with some reflection on the Supreme Court's dismantling of protective classes of the Voting Rights Act, we believe three men surrounded, bullied and verbally (and two of them) physically assaulted public servant Ms. Jessie Haynes (chief public information officer and special assistant superintendent/communications) while she was at work at the Beaumont Independent School District the evening of August 1, 2013. (The court ruling was against two of the men who surrounded Ms. Haynes.)

(Ms. Haynes' office was handling a media briefing about the court's ruling.) We believe, despite surveillance video CLEARLY showing one of the men physically assaulting Ms. Haynes and slow motion enlarged frame-by -frame photos from the video indicating where a second man assaulted Ms. Haynes, and despite Ms. Haynes' complaints, neither perpetrator has been arrested or charged. We believe Texas penal codes of aggravated assault and assault on a public servant while performing her duties were downplayed by law enforcement officials. It appears, instead, using politics, efforts were put forth to try to further embarrass and harass Ms. Haynes as officials charged and arrested her for blocking an entry way, despite an officer of the law standing near the door with her and all appropriate authorities being fully aware of codes & policies that show the charge was inappropriate. (FYI, with the exception of a traffic ticket, Ms. Haynes has NEVER in her life been on the wrong side of the law.)

In no case should it be okay for any person to physically assault, hit, manhandle and/or bully another person. If a public servant appears to be doing something inappropriate (as waiting in front of a door), it is appropriate to ask an officer of the law or that employee's supervisor to address the situation. A vigilante assault on a grandmother who is nearly 60 years old and a public school employee/servant is inappropriate and a violation of the law!

This petition is to say to Ms. Haynes, citizens of Beaumont, Texas, and to female employees of the Beaumont Independent School District that bullying, harassment and physical assault are NOT okay and should not be tolerated regardless of who the violators are! We demand that politics be put aside and ask that the men who assaulted Ms. Haynes be appropriately charged with violation of Texas penal codes, including aggravated assault and assaulting a public servant while performing her duties.

We further request the owners of supposedly legitimate local media to stop allowing their television stations and newspaper to be used as pawns to help bully and harass citizens of Southeast Texas as they have in the assault on Ms. Haynes where we believe they erroneously, partially and biasedly edited video and wrote personal assumptions, including several lies and one-sided tales--including making inaccurate conclusions, instead of reporting unbiased facts and untainted video editing.

Furthermore, we request that you do what you can to allow no further efforts to intimidate Ms. Haynes to occur and as appropriate, you do what you can to facilitate the prevailing of a fair, untainted and unbiased justice process.

Why is this important?

More than 53 MILLION Americans are bullied at work! Many are physically hurt. This petition is to stop the bullying, assault and harassment of/on public employees especially because they support voting rights for all U.S. citizens.
