We demand a complete overhaul of rental law, including:
Instituting a new system of quicker evictions for non-payment, and restitution for destruction of property,
Stopping the forced payment by landlords of utilities for tenants during eviction, and
Providing the same access to free legal services that deadbeat tenants enjoy.
Why is this important?
Things are completely out of control for landlords. There are volumes on tenant rights, free legal counsel for tenants, and nothing at all to protect the property owners. I almost lost my property, and I know others who have lost theirs, as a result of the ridiculous laws that protect , even ENCOURAGE deadbeat tenants!! The whole system needs repair, quicker evictions, and to stop making landlords responsible for all costs.
