Hickox, Kaci Lynne
Registered Nurse
State License: Texas (Multi-State)
License #: 692921
Orig. Issue Date: 1/28/2003

Kaci Hickox, RN is refusing to abide by Federal and State voluntary and mandated quarantines after having direct contact with people infected with the Ebola Virus, in the high risk areas of West Africa.
I believe that this behavior is a direct violation of the Texas State Nursing Practice Acts and can have a severe impact on the Public Health; not only by increasing the potential risk of spreading this deadly infectious disease, but also by promoting and sensationalizing CONDUCT UNBECOMING of a Registered Nurse.
Kaci Hickox is showing a direct disregard for the health and well being of the Public by not complying with Federal and State regulations. Whether she agrees with these regulations, or believes she is ill or not, and whether she IS ill or not, as an RN, she should be setting a positive example to society and encouraging collaboration between healthcare workers and Federal/State institutions. In not complying with Federal and State mandates, she is encouraging other healthcare practitioners to do the same. This behavior assists to create fear within the public. Every RN knows that they cannot pick and choose which policies, mandates, statutes, or procedures that they will follow, based on whether they agree with them or not, or whether they are convenient for the Nurse.
