Kathy Castor: Please help restore voting rights!
Dear Kathy: Most of the people in our District would be horrified if they knew how President Johnson's Voting Rights Act of 1965 has been gutted by SCOTUS. You can help fix that by cosponsoring the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014.
Why is this important?
I was working at the Capitol for a Georgia Member of Congress, the late Rep. G. Elliott Hagan (GA-1), when he voted for this Act. He also supported (in a voice vote) the Civil Rights Act of 1964, President Johnson's "We SHALL overcome!" ringing in his ears and drowning out a Savannah Republican's challenge.
