KCS: PUT HOMESCHOOLERS ON THE ALL STATE WALL
Hailey Porter is a homeschooled sports participant through Kingsport City Schools. She has participated in public School Sports for six years. She was selected to the 2024. All State team and she is a part of the historic State Championship team in 2024 from Dobyns-Bennett High School. She holds the single season home run record at DBHS and the single game home run record. She is committed and accepted to play college softball at ETSU with all of her NCAA paperwork early academic accepted. As a hardworking senior that has participated in school sports since her sixth grade year through KCS, she deserves to be recognized for her earned accomplishments as an All State Player. The central office allegedly has a policy in place that DBHS will not allow students that will not graduate from DBHS to have their picture hung with the other historical All State players. In signing this petition you are recognizing not just that Hailey should be added to the All State wall and the scrolling photo images inside the Buck Van Huss Dome but that others that will come after her as homeschoolers will have the opportunity to feel that their athletic accomplishments at DBHS are no less than that of their peers.
Why is this important?
Loyalty is a two way street. Hailey has given back to her middle school by offering camp with lunch supplied for free to current middle school players along with volunteering at local camps run by The Dugout as well. She has remained loyal and been a major contributor in fundraising and building the programs she has participated with along with the culture she hopes to leave behind.
