KEEP AVID ALIVE

The AVID program is essential for a full academic career. It prepares and stimulates students to achieve a higher degree of appreciation for education. This program is essential for many reasons. First, AVID prepares high school students for college by removing uncertainty and confusion around colleges by informing students what they need to be prepared for college. The second reason why AVID should be retained is the uncertainty of why AVID is being removed.  While certain classes and teachers are being deleted, removing this class makes no sense. Third, there is an abundance of students taking this course and the teacher, Ms. Houston is great. Finally, middle school students would no longer going to be able to continue this course in high school. This further makes the removal of AVID confusing. AVID is a great social period. Not only are students able to learn but also establish vital social skills that students will need and use later in life. All in all, the AVID program should be continued.
