Keep Boca Grande Open

To Whom It May Concern:
We, the undersigned residents, visitors, and supporters of Boca Grande, Florida, respectfully submit this petition to advocate for keeping our community’s beaches and their parking areas open for responsible public use.
Boca Grande’s beaches are not only a cherished part of our daily lives—they are vital to the social, economic, and environmental well-being of our island. These beaches provide a place for recreation, community connection, and serve as a draw for tourism, which supports our local businesses.
We understand the concerns that may arise regarding safety, environmental protection, and property management. However, we believe that with clear guidelines and community cooperation, these concerns can be effectively addressed proactively without resorting to closure. Responsible beach access can be maintained with measures such as:
- Posted rules for respectful and sustainable use
- Enhanced enforcement of littering and noise ordinances
- Community outreach and volunteer programs for beach stewardship
Closing parking at these beaches would penalize the vast majority of responsible users and deprive residents and visitors of a vital natural resource. Boca Grande has a long-standing tradition of welcoming those who respect its beauty, and we are committed to preserving that legacy.
We urge local leaders and decision-makers to prioritize public access and preserve what makes Boca Grande unique—a strong sense of place and community
Why is this important?
If the parking ordinance limits or restricts public access, locals are the first to feel the consequences. Speaking out helps prevent the loss of access to beaches that have been shared and enjoyed for generations.
