Keep Chelan Safe
The sole purpose of this petition is to let the Fire Commissioners know that we, Chelan citizens who are registered to vote here, would like to have the Fire Levy Lid Lift put back to the November Election Ballot in 2018. By this, the commissioners will be allowing the community ample time to be properly educated as to the needs of the Fire Department so that they can make an informed decision when choosing to vote yes or no.

Why is this important?
Chelan Fire Department is about to lose 50% of our 24-hour staffing!
FEMA provided a SAFER grant at the beginning of 2017 to fund these 6 guys for 2 years, which expires at the end of December. By losing 6 professional firefighters, Chelan will be supremely under-protected. This means high safety risks for our community and our kids, increased mortgage insurance due to decreased fire protection, slower response times to emergencies, etc. Less than 1/2 of the town voted during the last election. So many people weren't aware of the situation we are facing and we all deserve the right to make an informed vote.
