The City of Brier has the 13th lowest crime rate of all Washington state cities. Our visible, active and professional Brier Police ensure our community is safe. Outsourcing police functions to Mountlake Terrace will result in delayed response time to issues and a much less visible police presence. The Mayor and City Council need to engage with and hear from citizens before making decisions about the future of the Brier Police.
Why is this important?
Brier has one of the lowest crime rates in the state. A strong Brier Police presence helps keep our community safe, deters criminal activity and strengthens our property values. I'm signing this petition to send this message to the Mayor and City Council:
1) There needs to be transparency in this decision. Community input should be actively sought and decisions should not be made without extensive outreach with taxpayers, and
2) We need to invest in our Brier Police force to keep it strong, not dismantle it by outsourcing functions to another city
